Carbon and Arkema develop elastomeric resins for DLS

The materials support adjustable lattice structures for footwear and other consumer products, including made-to-order designs.

Carbon develops elastomeric resins for its Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) technology, drawing on Arkema’s experience in UV-curable specialty materials. Together, the material and manufacturing capabilities support the production of lattice structures for consumer products such as footwear and sporting equipment, with properties that can be adjusted for cushioning, support and energy return.

In athletic footwear, fashion and lifestyle applications, these capabilities are used to produce custom designs and made-to-order products. For example, Vivobarefoot’s 3D-printed sandal uses foot scans to create individualized products and can help reduce inventory and material waste.
