Seequent acquires Eliis to expand seismic interpretation

Eliis’ PaleoScan and PaleoModel software join Seequent’s portfolio, along with a team of more than 100 geoscientists and specialists.

Bentley Systems, Incorporated announced that Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, has acquired seismic interpretation software company Eliis. The acquisition adds seismic data interpretation capabilities to Seequent’s geophysics portfolio and expands its subsurface software offering. Eliis’ team of more than 100 geoscientists, technical specialists and researchers will join Seequent.

Founded in 2007 and based in Montpellier, France, Eliis develops seismic interpretation software for processing and analyzing seismic imaging data and building subsurface models. Seismic methods provide high-resolution geophysical data for subsurface analysis at depth.

Eliis’ software includes the PaleoScan seismic interpretation platform, which uses Relative Geological Time technology and AI-assisted interpretation. It also includes PaleoModel, a co-innovation project designed to support downstream reservoir simulation. These capabilities complement Seequent’s subsurface portfolio, including its implicit modeling tool Leapfrog.

Dechert LLP and Simmons & Simmons LLP acted as legal advisors to Bentley and Seequent in the transaction.
