The multiyear agreement covers application-optimized IP, EDA tools, AI agents and multiphysics solutions for Trainium and Graviton.
Synopsys Inc. announced a multiyear agreement with Amazon to support the development of Amazon’s custom silicon and AI-enabled products and cloud infrastructure. The agreement expands Synopsys’ silicon IP business to include application-optimized IP, with Amazon as its lead customer.
Amazon develops purpose-built chips including Nitro for cloud security, networking and storage, Graviton for general-purpose computing and Trainium for AI training and inference. Building on more than 15 years of collaboration, the agreement expands Amazon’s use of Synopsys IP as well as its electronic design automation, simulation and analysis and agentic AI technologies. The companies will also work on multiphysics solutions for Trainium and Graviton.
Synopsys and Amazon plan to apply AI across silicon-to-system engineering workflows. The collaboration includes Synopsys’ AI-powered EDA tools, physics-based simulation and agentic AI solutions, along with the development of custom agentic AI capabilities for Amazon’s engineering teams.
These technologies are intended to support the design, analysis, optimization and validation of complex chips and systems.
Synopsys will use Amazon EC2 and cloud storage services to support the development of its IP and EDA tools. The company will also use Amazon Bedrock to develop and deploy AI applications and agents for its product development and scaling efforts.
