The pre-engineered system integrates power distribution, automation and cybersecurity features for DER deployment.

Siemens’ new packaged pre-engineered Microgrid Integrated Switchboard (MIS) solution combines power distribution, protection, automation and microgrid control in a single platform. The factory-integrated, tested and standardized solution is intended to support faster deployment of distributed energy resources (DERs) for U.S. organizations looking to improve resilience while reducing project risk and implementation timelines.
Using microgrid control powered by SICAM A8000, the MIS solution is designed to monitor, control and optimize DERs such as utility connections, generators, battery energy storage systems and solar photovoltaics. The solution supports transitions between grid-connected and islanded operation, which can help facilities maintain critical operations during grid disturbances. Its vendor-agnostic architecture allows customers to integrate DER assets from multiple suppliers and select technologies that align with their operational and energy goals.
The MIS solution also includes cybersecurity features such as role-based access control, encryption and network security capabilities. By combining preconfigured controls with pre-engineered, factory-tested distribution equipment, the solution can reduce on-site integration time and complexity and help customers manage project execution and commissioning.
The MIS solution is intended for a range of applications, including commercial facilities, manufacturing sites, healthcare campuses, data centers, government and municipal facilities, higher education institutions and other organizations seeking greater energy resilience and operational flexibility.
