The solution uses test benches and software to reduce FRF measurement time and improve repeatability across component variants.

SieSiemens announced an automated software and hardware solution that helps engineers characterize the noise and vibration behavior of mechanical components in hours rather than days. The automated component model extraction solution industrializes blocked force extraction in accordance with ISO 20270 and supports system-level NVH prediction through virtual prototyping.
Component characterization is often slow, manual and dependent on specialist expertise. Engineers can spend days collecting measurements that are difficult to repeat consistently, which can add uncertainty to downstream simulation and system integration. The new automated component model extraction workflow addresses these issues by automating measurement and processing in a controlled, operator-independent process.

Developed with Bosch, the solution is based on Bosch’s predictiveVIA technology and is offered by Siemens as an industrialized implementation. It combines automated test benches with software to generate simulation-ready component models that can be reused across multiple system variants.
By reducing manual variability, automated component model extraction cuts FRF measurement time by 93% compared with conventional methods and provides consistent results across component variants. The repeatable data supports earlier digital twin-based system validation and can reduce reliance on physical prototypes during development.
The solution is part of the Simcenter physical testing portfolio and includes Simcenter Testlab software, Simcenter SCADAS hardware and Simcenter for Qsources hardware. It supports test-based and CAE-based representations of components such as electric motors, pumps, compressors, steering systems and actuators for virtual system integration.
