SHINING 3D announced the renewal of its Global Industry Partnership with WorldSkills International through 2028 at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. The agreement extends a collaboration that began in 2019 and reflects a shared commitment to building a future-ready workforce equipped with 3D vision and digital skills.
Expand competition support
When SHINING 3D first joined the WorldSkills community, the initial focus was on supporting the Mechanical Engineering CAD competition. Following its elevation to a Global Industry Partner in 2024, the scope of the company’s support has grown.
At WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, SHINING 3D is supporting five key skills competitions, including Mechanical Engineering CAD, Additive Manufacturing, Aircraft Maintenance, Autobody Repair, and the new proposed skill category – Dental Prosthetics. The partnership brings 3D scanning, metrology, and digital manufacturing technologies into competition environments where precision, technical skills, and practical experience come together.
Bringing 3D metrology inspection software into skills assessment
A key part of the renewed partnership is the application of high-precision 3D metrology inspection software in skills assessment.
SHINING3D Inspect, our PTB-certified industrial 3D inspection software, has been officially adopted as a scoring and evaluation tool for several skill competitions. By automatically comparing the 3D scan data of competitor’s workpieces with standard CAD models, the software generates intuitive color deviation maps and detailed dimensional reports. This provides judges with objective, measurable data to support the assessment of dimensional accuracy, making the evaluation process more consistent and transparent.
The use of digital inspection technology also demonstrates how tools developed for industrial applications can be applied in skills competitions, connecting competition standards with the technologies used in today’s manufacturing environment.
