Renishaw’s Equator-X dual-method gauging system wins AMB Award for measuring technology and quality assurance.
Renishaw, a world leader in measuring and manufacturing systems, has won the 2026 AMB Award in the Measuring Technology and Quality Assurance category for its Equator-X dual-method gauging system.
The AMB Award recognises the most innovative products and exhibits showcased at the AMB exhibition held in Stuttgart, Germany, highlighting the latest advances in the metalworking industry. The jury, comprising leading representatives from the three supporting German trade associations and members of the scientific community, selected the Equator-X system in recognition of its contribution to enhancing process control and delivering greater measurement flexibility on the shop floor.
Introduced in 2025, the Equator-X gauge extends Renishaw’s Equator range of shop floor gauging systems by combining absolute and comparative measurement methods within a single platform. The system was developed to help manufacturers address increasing product variety, shorter production runs and the need for faster inspection closer to the point of manufacture.
The ability to select either Absolute or Compare measurement modes enables manufacturers to apply the most appropriate measurement strategy for their production environment. In Absolute mode, the Equator-X system provides fully traceable inspection results while measuring at scanning speeds of up to 250 mm/s. In Compare mode, manufacturers can achieve scanning speeds of up to 500 mm/s for high-volume production applications where throughput is critical.
The award reflects the growing importance of flexible measurement solutions in modern manufacturing environments, where manufacturers are under increasing pressure to improve productivity while maintaining quality and process capability.
Equator-X enables measurement to move closer to production, helping to reduce inspection bottlenecks while providing the process control data needed to support confident manufacturing decisions.
