Synopsys introduces AgentEngineer solutions for engineering

The solutions run on the Autopilot Platform, with more than 50 engagements underway and general availability planned for late 2026.

Synopsys, Inc. has announced Synopsys AgentEngineer solutions, a portfolio of domain-specific long-horizon agents designed to reason, plan and execute engineering workflows across the silicon-to-systems lifecycle. The solutions support verification, system validation, implementation, analog design, manufacturing, simulation and analysis. Built on the Synopsys Autopilot Platform, an open and secure foundation for autonomous engineering, the agents are intended to help engineering teams improve productivity, design quality and workflow completion while managing token usage and latency.

Long-horizon agents for silicon-to-system design

Synopsys AgentEngineer solutions provide domain-specific intelligence for engineering workflows in verification, implementation, analog design, manufacturing, simulation and analysis within a unified platform environment.

Task-level agents support specific engineering activities, including coverage closure, software bring-up and validation, multi-die 3DIC assembly, power, performance and area (PPA) closure, analog layout synthesis, design migration, mask synthesis, combustion analysis, resonance analysis, signal integrity and other design tasks.

Together, the long-horizon and task-level agents support broad workflows and focused engineering activities. Their performance is based on engineering context, domain knowledge and workflow information derived from Synopsys electronic design automation (EDA) and simulation and analysis engines.

Synopsys Autopilot Platform for agent orchestration

The Synopsys Autopilot Platform provides orchestration, skills, memory, telemetry and governance for autonomous engineering workflows. It enables AI systems to coordinate activities, access design information, execute actions and operate within enterprise security and control requirements.

  • Supports customer choice: Enables the use of Synopsys, partner and third-party infrastructure, models, data, agents, workflows and ecosystem integrations while maintaining security and data controls.
  • Provides engineering context: Combines domain knowledge, engineering tools, reusable skills and persistent memory to help agents interpret design intent and support workflow execution.
  • Includes security and data controls: Uses architecture options, access controls, encryption and runtime safeguards to protect customer, partner and Synopsys intellectual property.
  • Designed for efficiency: Uses privileged APIs and proprietary context to support agent reasoning while reducing token usage and latency.

Scaling autonomous engineering through industry collaboration

The Synopsys Autopilot Platform is designed to support engineering workflows spanning design, verification and systems development. Collaborations with companies in the industry are evaluating the use of autonomous engineering and its potential effects on productivity, design quality and workflow completion.

Availability and resources

More than 50 engagements involving Synopsys AgentEngineer solutions and the Autopilot Platform are underway. General availability is planned for the end of 2026.
