Managing Complexity in Engineering and IT Modernization

Keysight Technology’s Toby Marsden on how AI, the Cloud and packed applications will evolve in next generation manufacturing processes.

This episode of Designing the Future is brought to you by Keysight Technologies.

Engineering project management is widely believed to be about the control of processes designed to deliver a specific goal….a new technology, new product, a new process, all with some definable finish line. Experienced project managers, however, understand that the goal is elusive, and always recedes from the manager’s grasp, and that’s a good thing.

Managing complex and layered processes in this age of cloud connectivity and artificial intelligence has introduced a level of complexity that now challenges the limits of human cognition and modernizing an engineering and IT process now requires a level of collaboration and integration that goes beyond different software platforms and directly into how humans plug into the system.

It’s a giant problem, and possibly the most important one in engineering today, and Jim Anderton was joined by Keysight Technology’s Toby Marsden, vice president of strategic alliances and enterprise sales to explore the implications.
