Diskover extends data visibility to NetApp storage

The collaboration supports ONTAP and StorageGRID users across media, EDA and other file-intensive workloads.

Diskover Data announced a new collaboration with NetApp, the Intelligent Data Infrastructure company, extending Diskover Platform’s governed visibility and control to ONTAP and StorageGRID environments in media and entertainment, semiconductor design (EDA), and other sectors with file-intensive workloads. Under the collaboration, customers will be able to purchase Diskover Platform through NetApp, making it easier than ever for NetApp customers in these industries to put specialized discovery and cataloging to work in the workflows they already run, on premises, in the cloud, and across heterogeneous storage.

Diskover adds specialized discovery for industries whose workflows depend on massive file estates, from film and episodic production to chip design and scientific research. DataDiscovery uses a rich set of specialized scanners to index metadata across ONTAP and StorageGRID in place, capturing ownership, permissions, age, cost, and project context then surfaces it in a searchable, governed catalog. The result is industry-specific, governed views that fit the workflows media, EDA, and life sciences teams already rely on, inside NetApp storage and across the platforms surrounding it.

Built on top of infrastructure customers already run

Diskover Platform deploys entirely within the customer’s own environment, on premises or in their virtual private cloud, and connects to ONTAP and StorageGRID using native scanning.

For enterprise teams running file-intensive workloads, the collaboration turns three long-standing blind spots into governed, actionable views:

  1. Industry-specific discovery. DataDiscovery connects file metadata to the productions, chip designs, and research programs it belongs to, and fits into the media, EDA, and life sciences workflows teams already use, so they can find, organize, and act on the data behind every project.
  2. Cost recovery and chargeback. DataDiscovery surfaces cost by project, user, group, age, and storage tier, supporting chargeback and identifying redundant and obsolete data before it becomes a capacity problem. Diskover customers typically reclaim 10 to 30 percent of their footprint, exceeding three million dollars in larger environments, with return on investment (ROI) inside 30 to 60 days.
  3. Governance and compliance. The catalog gives governance teams a place to search, trace, and act on sensitive or regulated content across every share and tier, enforcing retention and access policy against files that actually exist rather than a best guess.

Diskover Platform is available now for NetApp ONTAP and StorageGRID environments and will be available to purchase through NetApp beginning in November 2026. Diskover is a proud Gold sponsor of NetApp INSIGHT 2026.
