Artec Twins combines point clouds, meshes and Gaussian Splats with tools for measurement, visualization and data analysis.

Artec 3D has launched Artec Twins, a software platform for processing and rendering large 3D environments. The platform is designed to handle datasets containing billions of points and support digital-twin workflows for surveying, inspection, monitoring and related applications.
Artec 3D has developed 3D capture and processing tools for more than 20 years. Artec Twins extends this work to large-scale datasets by providing tools for processing, rendering and analyzing point clouds, meshes and Gaussian Splats in one platform. Users can convert captured data into digital models for measurement, visualization and further processing.
Initially developed for Artec Jet, a mobile SLAM-based LiDAR scanner for large-scale mapping, Artec Twins also supports data from other sources. The software builds on Artec Studio and adds Gaussian Splatting, analysis tools and algorithms for large 3D datasets.
Capture at different scales
Artec Twins is designed for projects ranging from construction sites and property interiors to cities, infrastructure and heritage sites. The software supports data captured at different scales and levels of detail, depending on the device used.
The platform supports data fusion from Artec 3D scanners, smartphones, drones and satellites. Users can combine satellite, aircraft or Artec Jet data for large areas with data from the Artec Ray II for additional detail and the wireless Artec Leo for submillimeter scanning.
The combined dataset can be exported to third-party software in industry-standard formats for additional processing.
Real-time rendering for large datasets
Artec Twins uses algorithms that distribute processing across available computing resources. The software can render point clouds containing billions of points at up to 200 frames per second without decimation. Datasets covering 100 square kilometers or more remain interactive for navigation and inspection.
The platform prioritizes dimensional accuracy for applications such as surveying, infrastructure inspection and public safety. Visualization tools support the review of the same data without replacing measurement functions.
Gaussian Splatting
Artec Twins adds Gaussian Splatting to Artec 3D’s software portfolio. The technique generates and renders 3D scenes from captured data without requiring separate software.
Gaussian Splatting can represent translucent and reflective surfaces that may be difficult to reconstruct with conventional methods. Models can be created from Artec Jet LiDAR data or from photographs and video, depending on the project requirements.
Working with point clouds, meshes and Gaussian Splats
Artec Twins supports point clouds, meshes and Gaussian Splats in the same platform. Users can switch between measurement-oriented views and photorealistic visualizations using the same source data.
Color, height, normal and intensity overlays can help identify features in the data. First-person navigation allows users to move through a site virtually for remote walkthroughs, inspections and project presentations.
Analysis tools for 3D data
Artec Twins includes tools for analyzing large 3D datasets. Users can create distance maps between point clouds, meshes or CAD references, generate cross-sections, calculate volumes, fit primitives and measure fused models. Georeferencing and ground control point support allow datasets to be placed in real-world coordinates.
Comparing as-built scans with design files can help identify deviations, check tolerances and monitor changes over time. The software processes data locally and can export results in E57, LAS/LAZ and common mesh or Gaussian Splatting formats.
Artec Studio remains Artec 3D’s software for 3D data capture and processing. Artec Twins is intended for large-scale monitoring, inspection and surveying projects in areas such as architecture, engineering and construction, mining, infrastructure and public safety.
Availability
Artec Twins is available now. The software supports workflows using Artec Jet and Artec Ray II as well as data from other Artec 3D scanners.
