ADS 2027 adds MCP servers, macro recording and Python script generation for automated RF design workflows.

Keysight Technologies, Inc. has added agentic AI capabilities to its software to help engineers automate design tasks. Customers can use large language models (LLMs) to generate and optimize designs while Keysight simulation tools validate the results.
Although many organizations plan to deploy AI agents by 2028, RF engineering workflows have been slower to adopt the technology. RF design depends on specialized knowledge and graphical schematics and layouts that LLMs cannot consistently interpret. Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) 2027 addresses this by allowing teams to record workflows as macros and convert graphical designs into code that AI agents can process. Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers connect AI agents to ADS and provide instructions for interacting with the software.
When an engineer submits a request in natural language, an AI agent can perform the task in ADS. Keysight-developed MCP servers provide documented skills and tools for executing specific RF design operations. The agent then uses Keysight simulation to evaluate the output.
Key features include:
- Supports agentic workflows across multiple tools: MCP servers work with AI assistants and LLMs already used by organizations and can connect tools from multiple vendors within the same workflow.
- Automates repetitive design tasks: Agents can perform setup and simulation steps in ADS, allowing engineers to evaluate more design scenarios within a given development schedule.
- Captures and shares engineering methods: ADS macro recording documents an engineer’s workflow for reuse by colleagues and AI agents across teams.
MCP servers, macro recording and Python script generation are available in ADS 2027 and RF Circuit Simulation Professional.
