Formlabs introduces Form Studio 1 resin 3D printer

The enclosed system uses 28 LEDs, 35 µm pixels and Alpha Resins for indoor printing and detailed prototypes.

Formlabs has introduced Form Studio 1, a resin 3D printer designed to provide professional-grade print quality, speed and reliability at a lower price than existing professional systems. The printer is the first resin 3D printer to earn UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification when used with Formlabs Alpha Resins and the Formlabs VOC Extractor, supporting use in small offices, workshops and home settings without dedicated containment or ventilation equipment.

Form Studio 1 is designed as an integrated printing system for new and professional users. Its print engine is based on Formlabs’ Low Force Display (LFD) technology and uses a custom lens array with 28 LEDs to produce a uniform, collimated 6 mW/cm² light field for resin curing. The printer uses 35 µm pixels and anti-aliasing to reproduce fine details, while reduced peel forces and light-touch supports help produce smooth surfaces.

Form Studio 1 highlights

  • Print speed: Prints most jobs in less than two hours.
  • Indoor use: Produces skin-safe prints and has been tested for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
  • Print detail: Produces fine features and smooth surfaces.
  • Print reliability: Achieves a 98% print success rate*.
  • Ease of use: Provides an integrated workflow, resin cartridges with automatic dispensing and heating, and a flexible build platform with Quick Release Technology for removing prints.
  • Material options: The optional Resin Tank Pro uses a durable, chemically resistant tank film for printing with a range of third-party materials.

UL GREENGUARD Gold certification for indoor printing

Form Studio 1 has an enclosed print chamber and uses low-odor Alpha Resin formulations for operation in shared indoor spaces without a tent, enclosure or dedicated ventilation. When paired with the Formlabs VOC Extractor, total emissions are reduced to less than 220 µg/m³ as measured according to the UL 2819 GREENGUARD Gold standard.

Six Alpha Resins certified for long-term skin contact

Formlabs’ Alpha Resins are available for applications requiring color, transparency, fine detail or specific mechanical properties. The range includes Alpha Model resin for detailed models and Alpha Fast resin for prototypes requiring shorter print times.

The six resins—Grey, White, Black, Clear, Model and Fast—are certified for long-term skin contact exceeding 30 days in accordance with ISO 10993. After recommended post-processing, printed parts are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

Availability and pricing

Form Studio 1 is available to order worldwide starting at $699, with global shipping scheduled to begin on November 16, 2026. Alpha Resins start at $29 per liter. The Form Studio 1 Founder’s Edition is available in graphite and three limited colors— aqua, teal and violet—through November 30, 2026, or while supplies last.
