OCI Compute E7 will use 6th Gen EPYC CPUs, while Oracle Acceleron adds DPUs to offload networking and security tasks.

At Oracle AI World 2026, AMD provided updates on its ongoing collaboration with Oracle to bring AMD technologies to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) customers. OCI Compute E7 cloud compute instances will use 6th Gen AMD EPYC server processors to support enterprise applications and the CPU services used alongside AI models. Oracle Acceleron converged NICs also incorporate AMD Pensando data processing units (DPUs) for AMD CPUs and GPUs on OCI.
AI workloads require substantial compute resources and efficient infrastructure services. CPUs coordinate agents, retrieve data, and run enterprise applications, while networking technology moves data and offloads infrastructure tasks.
AMD EPYC processors and Pensando DPUs support workloads across AI, database, cloud-native, and enterprise applications.
OCI Compute E7 instances, powered by 6th Gen AMD EPYC processors, will offer customers performance and capabilities for agent orchestration, concurrent agent sandboxes, retrieval services, and in-memory caches, as well as web, API, and enterprise application tiers. E7 Acceleron Standard virtual machines will provide configurable compute and memory options.
As part of Oracle Acceleron converged NICs for OCI instances powered by AMD, AMD Pensando DPUs handle networking, storage, and security functions in hardware, which helps preserve host CPU capacity for customer applications while supporting AI, database, cloud-native, and enterprise workloads.
As training, inference, and agentic AI increase network requirements, Pensando DPUs provide a programmable foundation that allows OCI to adapt networking, storage, security, and observability services as workloads change.
