Sounds, like a home work question.

What do you know about the two subjects?

    Actually yes

I'm taking material science course, and i answered the question but somehow it is wrong

    my answer was :
Material science and industrial engineering continue to be at the forefront of all of high technology. They influence our lives each time we buy or use a new device. Material science must perform their task by understanding the relationship between properties, structure, processing. And when it comes to industrial engineering they choose their material depending on the strength, its electrical properties, resistance to heat or corrosion.

I agree with you instructor, you have not given very good answer. It uses to many stock phrases and fails to show an understanding the two different disciplines.

    Below are some links

    http://science-ed.pnnl.gov/teachers...ntro08.pdf - Material Science

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_engineering - Industrial Engineering

Review these and other linkes for a better understanding of both disciplines.
