    Hello!
    For the last couple of days I have been thinking about the possibility of cooling air using a vacuum pump and water as a refrigerant.

    Consider the following scenario-

    If a vacuum pump is used to reduce the surrounding air pressure of a conducting vessel containing water(obviously sealed)then at room temperature the water will start to boil. There is a setup to draw the water vapor out and expel it out of the whole system (system being the room in which the experiment is being performed).

    Now here are the questions that came to my mind-

    1) When the water boils at that room's temperature will the surrounding air lose the equivalent amount of heat = the latent heat of vaporization of water at that pressure?

    2) Assuming the system to be isolated will the air of the room start to cool if sufficient amount of water is provided to boil? If not, why?
