A few companies are showing desktop printers that print using metal. The metal is usually in some kind of slurry, rod, or other suspended form. But such a printer does help engineers in their form, fit, and function needs. Desktop Metal is one of the developers that recently introduced a desktop 3D printer for printing metal that uses extrusion technology. At the recent RAPID conference, I had a chance to explore this technology further. Listen in as Jonah Myerberg, co-founder of Desktop Metal explains how they were able to handle material and safety issues of 3D printing in metal.
