Xometry Adds Autodesk Inventor Integration

A new add-in for Autodesk Inventor makes it possible to use Xometry’s quoting services from within the software.

Though manufacturing service provider Xometry may be busy raising millions of dollars and buying up the competition, that doesn’t mean the company is too busy to keep running the business. On the heels of its $25 million investment, Xometry has announced a new add-in for Autodesk Inventor that makes it possible to get an Xometry quote without leaving the Inventor design workspace.

Xometry runs a growing network of manufacturers with whom customers can easily have parts produced using 3D printing, injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and urethane casting. The company prides itself on the Xometry Instant Quoting Engine, which allows users to get an instant quote when they upload a CAD file.

Now, it’s possible to use the quoting engine without leaving the comfort of the Inventor environment. This makes it possible to perform the following tasks within the Autodesk software:

  • Receive immediate pricing and lead times
  • Get instant design feedback
  • Select manufacturing processes from those mentioned above
  • Order designs through Xometry
  • Add notes and drawings to the part, such as feature, finish, and tolerance specifications

Inventor users can access the add-in for free on the Xometry website. This is the second CAD add-in that the company has offered, the first being an add-in for SOLIDWORKS. To learn more, visit the Xometry website.
