Women in Manufacturing announces that Johnson & Johnson and Carbon are sponsoring the next California Chapter event.
The newly established WiM California Chapter will host an event on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Carbon’s headquarters in Redwood City, California. This is an opportunity to network with WiM members and other women in manufacturing.
WiM will also have keynote speaker Kathy Wengel, Worldwide Vice President of Supply Chain at Johnson & Johnson. Kathy serves on the Johnson & Johnson Management Committee and is also a leadership member of the Regulatory Compliance & Government Affairs Committee and the Science, Technology & Sustainability Committee of the Johnson & Johnson Board of Directors.Â
Kathy has enterprise leadership responsibility for all aspects of Johnson & Johnson’s global Supply Chain, including accelerating the company’s innovation and growth objectives, building and leveraging capabilities that meet the diverse needs of the business, and ensuring the delivery of a reliable supply of high-quality products and services to patients, consumers and customers around the world.
Joseph DeSimone, CEO and Co-founder of Carbon, will also be speaking at this event. Under his direction, Carbon is marrying the intricacies of molecular science with hardware and software technologies to advance the 3D printing industry beyond basic prototyping to 3D manufacturing. Throughout his time in academia, Joe has published more than 300 scientific articles and has over 150 issued patents in his name—with more than 80 patents pending. Joe also previously co-founded several companies including Micell Technologies, Bioabsorbable Vascular Solutions, and Liquidia Technologies.
WiM community chapters are designed to bring together women in their states, allowing them to develop new contacts, participate in local networking events and become an advocate for women in the manufacturing industry—all while simultaneously learning about business development and job opportunities in their communities.
Each chapter is pioneered and run by a WiM member. WiM California is directed by Dana McCallum, business development manager at Carbon.
