What’s wrong with isometric viewing?

Many intricate models lose detail when viewed improperly. If possible avoid viewing from a true isometric view or where two sides are equal angles from the eye point. A slightly skewed angle will result in differing shades for each side making the model clearer.

Many modeling programs today default to a skewed isometric view to avoid this condition. Where software allows, add more light sources to enhance background detail, but avoid over lighting the model. This material is courtesy of 3D CAD Tips, www.3Dcadtips.com; www.designworldonline.com.
