Russia-based C3D Labs, an engineering software component developer, has released an updated version of its C3D Toolkit, which currently consists of a geometric kernel called C3D Modeler, a parametric kernel called C3D Solver, and a data exchange module called C3D Converter. The company also plans to introduce two new modules this fall: a visualization module called C3D vision and a mesh-to-boundary representation module called C3DMesh2Brep.

C3D Modeler 2018 includes several new features. There are new types of fillet construction such as the full-round fillet function that is capable of implementing three-face fillets. Modeler also adds G2 continuity for surfaces when using multiple guidelines (G2 continuity amounts to equal second derivatives along the boundary of two surfaces).

CFD Modeler 2018 also adds cross sections that transform when moving them along guide curves and bending sheet metal bodies, as well as a bend function for non-sheet metal bodies, which C3D labs claims is unique among geometric kernels.

As for C3D Solver 2018, C3D Labs claims its performance has increased by an average of 30 percent.Updates include an optimized dragging algorithm, optimized behavior of underdetermined drawings, G2 continuity between 2D curves, enhanced operations involving interpreted splines, and the introduction of rigid sets.

Finally, C3D Converter 2018 has added the ability to convert data without needing access to files, as models can now be imported from the buffer. In addition, the curve transfer function has been expanded, the Parasolid Converter can import and export wireframes, the JT Converter supports curves in polygons and dots, and the software now supports the latest version of formats (e.g., Parasolid up to Version 29, JT versions from 8.0 to 10.x).
