What is the difference between standard cubic metre and normal cubic metre?
The only time I have heard standard cubic metres used to distinguish from normal cubic metres is when you are discussing the volume of something (in my industry, usually liquids) that have a thermal expansion or contraction factor. While the liquid is sold in cubic metres, it is specified as “standard cubic metres” to let you know that the taring meter is calibrated for a specific temperature. (Usually either 0 °C or 25 °C)
