What is the carburation process all about ?

Carburation is the process of mixing fuel (petrol or diesel) with air to increase the heat potential of a fuel air mixture. The original device used for this purpose was the carburettor.

A carburettor would atomize the fuel and entrain it into the air as it is drawn into cylinders of an Otto Cycle Engine. Today a fuel injector creates the spray of small fuel particles to achieve the same results.
