What is the calorific value of methane?
Calorific value of Methane :
Calorific value
—————————– kJ/g kwh/kg
Gaseous Bio gas ——– 35 to 40 11.3 to 20.9
. Butane (LPG) ———– 50 .
. Methane —————– 55 17.8
. Hydrogen —————– 150 48.5
Hi there:
When working with the US Customary Unit System, I would just add that the higher heating value of methane is:
CH4 HHV = 21,563 [Btu/lbm]
For stoichiometric methane combustion, per unit mass of CH4 — for 1[ [lbm] of CH4 — there should be present 17.167 [lbm] of standard air to have complete combustion at stoichiometric conditions.
Thanks,
Gordan
