What are the applications of MOV in electrical circuits ?
MOV’s (metal oxide variance) are often used to protect circuits against excessive transient voltages. It is an active component that when triggered will shunt the current created by the high voltage away from the sensitive components. They limit the current using means other than strict resistance like a passive resistor.
