What are IS 2148 : 1968 & IS 2206: 1962? Are these to be followed in LPG area? Why?
1.1 This standard applies to flameproof enclosures of air-filled electrical apparatus having free spaces accessible to gases and vapours.
1.2 This standard specifies the constructional features necessary for flame-proof enclosures of electrical apparatus to ensure safety in service, the test requirements which they should meet and the marking to be applied to them.
1.2.1 This standard does not include the specifications of the apparatus within the enclosure and for these references to the relevant Indian Standard specification should be made.
1.3 These enclosures are suitable for housing electrical apparatus in mines and such other places where a mixture of air and flammable gas or vapour may occur, under the assumption as laid in 0.6 to 0.10.
