VIDEO: How Manufacturers can Capitalize from Easy Camera-Based Quality Inspection

Quality inspection training can be shortened to as little has half a day with this system from Mitutoyo.

“Inspection does not improve the quality, nor quarantee quality. Inspection is too late. The quality, good or bad, is already in the product. As Harold F. Dodge said, ‘You can not inspect quality into a product.’” – W. Edwards Deming, Out of the Crisis, pg. 29.

This quote from W. Edwards Demining rings nothing but truth, however to ensure quality products reach your customer, inspection is still necessary – inspect as early as possible and if every part going into a product is perfect, the final product should be perfect too.

In the video above, we talk with Bruce Zimmerman, sales engineer at Mitutoyo America about how camera-based inspection systems can help achieve the level of quality manufacturers need.

Looking at Mitutoyo’s Quick Image system, we inspect the tools telecentric lens, allowing for a bigger depth of field in the microscrope for a clearer image within analysis software. We also look at the Quick Image’s moveable stage, allowing for measurements of big and small parts, and how to use the data collected in the Quick Image system’s software further down the line.

Training for the Quick Image system can be done within as little as half a day.
