Valeo selects TactoTek IMSE for automotive lighting solutions

Valeo offers OEMs solutions for market differentiation and vehicle personalization.

Valeo and TactoTek announced that Valeo has licensed TactoTek In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE) technology to offer advanced interior and exterior lighting applications.

Lighting is important for OEMs and consumers, offering safety and style functions. Valeo provides OEMs with technologies that support product differentiation while allowing consumers to customize their vehicles. Valeo will apply its experience in overmolding processes and optical systems alongside TactoTek’s IMSE technology. The technology provides visual feedback for ADAS functions, including blind-spot detection and emergency braking alerts. It also supports dynamic displays with color control, animation, and customizable logos.

Lighting functions play a growing role in vehicle design, especially for dynamic displays and personalization. This trend introduces design and material challenges: materials must ensure sufficient brightness for daytime visibility, fit within space constraints behind decorative elements, allow for shape flexibility, and maintain efficiency.

IMSE technology integrates electronic components into lightweight, 3D injection-molded polymer structures, enabling flexible lighting designs. It also reduces the number of parts and material usage compared to conventional methods.
