Updated Geomagic Control platform

3D Systems recently announced some enhancements to its Geomatic platform. Geomagic Control (formerly Geomagic Qualify) is a comprehensive inspection automation platform for streamlining in-line and repetitive inspection processes that use 3D scanners and other portable metrology devices. You can program CAD comparisons, GD&T and go/no-go operations for automatic execution on any type of part.

New Features include:

— Advanced reporting tool: In addition to the standard 3D PDF reporting tools a new advanced reporting tool has been added for fast and easy report customization.

  • Import of Microsoft Word templates
  • Drag-and-drop set up of report elements
  • Easy editing of report templates
  • Output to 2D PDF

–Updated CAD file format support: Support and import current key native MCAD file formats with PMI import including:

  • Autodesk Inventor
  • SOLIDWORKS
  • CATIA V4-V5
  • Creo Elements Pro
  • Neutral formats such as SAT, Parasolid, IGES, VRML and more

In addition, Geomagic announced Geomagic Design X 2016. This reverse engineering software combines history-based CAD with 3D scan data processing. You can seamlessly create feature-based surface or solid models that are natively compatible with the latest popular MCAD platforms.

Key new features and tools for a 3D scan-to CAD approach include:

–New user interface: The updated interface allows faster scan-to-3D and CAD workflows, with an information-rich, user-driven interface and a more consistent and modern look-and-feel for users.

–New Ribbon UI brings all the tools to the surface. Quick and easy access and visibility into the entire toolset.

–Mode-less mesh editing: quick and easy mesh editing without the need to enter and exit an editing mode or being forced to roll back your history to edit the mesh.

–Quick access toolbar consolidates common selection, visibility, and view controls into a familiar and easy to use interface, while simultaneously reducing icon clutter in the interface

–Improved accuracy analyzer tool choices to easily access and choose comparison models and data for analysis

–The Right-Click contextual menu puts commonly used functions right at your Mouse Tip. Save mouse travel time and improve efficiency by choosing from the contextual function menu

–Improved tooltips to better understand a function at a glance

Geomagic Design X includes proven algorithms for exact surfacing, which were developed by Geomagic, as part of the platform’s expanded surfacing tool set. Exact surfacing delivers a range of intuitive tools for controlling and editing surface layouts, patches and fitting so you can deliver perfect, reliable surfaces every time for your 3D data.
