Tedds 2015 conforms to European Union standards.
With so many calculations to do when designing a structurally-sound building, engineers may have quite the time-consuming process on their hands.
Specifically aimed at the industries of architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), Tekla Tedds 2015 is software designed to automate repetitive civil and structural calculations and save time.
So what’s different?

Although it is reported to feature improvements to automation and reductions in calculation times, the major changes in the Tekla Tedds 2015 update are quite literally in the rulebook.
With the update, Trimble Buildings has said that Tekla Tedds users will now be able to design and test concrete beams and masonry to meet the requirements of Eurocode (the rules for structural design in the European Union) and steel beams to meet those of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
These new features promise to enable users to design and test these structures simultaneously using 2D frames that can be modeled using individual beams and analyzed for multiple concentrated loads.
“Tekla Tedds has a long heritage of enabling structural engineers to save time through automation,” said Barry Chapman, director of engineering for Trimble’s Structures Division.
“Although we released Tedds 2015 earlier this year, we felt it was important today to share these new features to reinforce that we are quickly developing even more capabilities that will further streamline calculations, minimize errors and increase productivity,” he added.
These new additions to Tekla Tedds are set to expand the current library of civil and structural calculations included in the software to help engineers meet international building codes. The archive already houses rules from British Standards, Eurocode and Australian, Canadian and United States building codes.
