Tech Soft 3D enhances its 3D PDF tool with new import features and better user controls.
Bend, Oregon’s Tech Soft 3D has announced an update to its 3D PDF publishing platform HOOPS Publish 2017.
More and more 3D PDFs are becoming the standard method for communicating engineering information between design departments to manufacturers and even up the chain to decision-makers. But often times, the tools that come packed into a CAD system for building 3D PDFs aren’t that easy to use or lack key functionality. HOOPS Publish 2017 bridges that gap by providing designers with easy-to-use tools that can turn CAD files into 3D PDF documents that can be viewed on the Web or in a preferred PDF viewer.
“The rise of Web and mobile technology, new standards and free readers has changed how people expect to consume data,” said Eric Vinchon, HOOPS product director. “People want to get data out of their applications and consume it throughout the product lifecycle. HOOPS Publish makes that possible. HOOPS Publish provides software development teams everything they need to add the output capabilities their customers expect into their applications.”
In this latest edition of HOOPS Publish, Tech Soft 3D’s engineers have added a number of new features, including the ability to publish to PDF, HTML 5, STEP AP 242, JT 9.5, IGES, PRC, STL, VRML and 3MF formats. Additionally, Publish’s HTML export feature has been improved with new built-in controls that allow PDF viewers to navigate, review and interrogate models inside a browser, eschewing the need for a proprietary CAD viewer. Beyond those improvements, 3D PDF developers can also build relationships between objects and elements in the PDF to concentrate a viewer’s focus on critical information, without having to wrestle with JavaScript. Finally, users can now import data into Publish in a number of formats, including IGES, STEP, SAT, XT , IFC, PRC, U3D and VRML.
