Tank manufacturer uses GrabCAD for engineering assistance.

Estanc offers professional storage and distribution solutions for industrial liquids and gases. Stainless steel, high-pressure storage tanks are available both as off-the-shelf products or made to the exact customer specifications.

A big part of Estanc’s business is made of made-to-order products and these custom fuel units are based on customer requirements. This scenario creates spikes in the need for engineering resources as new orders mean that Estanc’s engineers are overwhelmed with new project documentation while trying to deliver designs for an ongoing project – all under tight deadlines.

Higher temporary workload creates big ups and downs in the need for engineering capacity. Being responsive during peak times was critical but employing qualified engineers for short periods of time was not economically desirable.

Instead, Estanc turned to GrabCAD and hire virtual engineers during the peak times to turn scanned product sketches into technical drawings and also get rendered images for their sales materials. This allows Estanc’s own engineers to focus on high-impact tasks, product development, and quality control.

The work process is straight forward and streamlined for speed and quality. Estanc constructor uploads project input files to the GrabCAD project management website and these materials are checked by a senior engineer who assigns an engineer with the best fit in terms of industry and experience.

Estanc can monitor the work process and stay up to date on the progress. Before delivering work back to Estanc, GrabCAD senior engineers double check the quality of the finished files. Using GrabCAD helped Estanc reduce its development time by 50% and gave them access to a high quality, on-demand engineering resource.
