America Makes, in partnership with ASM International, is offering a course on the fundamentals of additive manufacturing materials and processes. It will begin May 12-13, 2014, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
This course introduces attendees to the full range of AM processes, the polymeric, metallic, and ceramic materials used in those processes; shape design flexibility and limitations, and typical industrial applications.
A major focus of the course is the metal alloy structures and properties generated by the various processes; multi-physics modeling of the processes, defects and their prevention, as well as the mechanical resolution and accuracy of parts and components produced by AM.
The course is conducted at the facilities of America Makes, Youngstown OH, where machine setup and process demonstrations will be carried out on the wide array of AM technologies in their laboratories. Engineers, technicians, and managers interested in understanding the essential features of AM, evaluating the technologies for their industries, and applying AM in their product development projects should attend.
