TactoTek appoints Dr. Pälvi Apilo as chief technology officer

With Dr. Apilo as CTO, TactoTek will advance IMSE to cut material use and simplify manufacturing.

TactoTek has appointed Dr. Pälvi Apilo as chief technology officer (CTO), effective immediately. Dr. Apilo brings extensive experience in advanced electronics and applied research and has made substantial contributions to the development of TactoTek’s technology. As CTO, she will lead ongoing advancements in IMSE technology aimed at reducing material usage, simplifying manufacturing processes, and enabling new approaches to electronic design. She will also be responsible for the continued development and oversight of TactoTek’s international patent portfolio.

Since joining TactoTek in 2018, Dr. Apilo has been an integral part of the company, most recently serving as Director of Foresight and Research. In that role, she has led the long-term technology roadmap and initiatives that have expanded the capabilities of in-mold structural electronics (IMSE), positioning TactoTek as a strong leader in the field. Her work has been instrumental in advancing the company’s technology innovations, particularly in automotive applications and circular economy strategies for electronics.

Dr. Apilo has built a career at the intersection of industry and academic research. She holds a Master of Science degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering and PhD in Printed Electronics. For over a decade, she worked as a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, responsible for planning, executing, and delivering both demanding EU and nationally funded projects as well as customer projects on printed and hybrid electronics. During the term, she was also a visiting researcher at Fraunhofer ISE.
