The mini-PC features rugged capabilities for all kinds of work environments.
The WPC-905 mini-PC is the latest product released by industrial computer developer Stealth.
This new machine is specially designed for harsh and rugged environments, featuring a fully sealed body to prevent dirt and liquids from entering the computer and damaging its components. In addition to that, the WPC-905 is completely waterproof. Stealth has also made the device fanless for zero noise and easy mobility, allowing it to be used in transportation settings. To avoid overheating, its rugged chassis functions as a heatsink to get rid of internal heat. According to Stealth, the WPC-905 is also IP67/NEMA 6 certified.
The mini-PC will be offered in four processor configurations coming from the latest Intel Core 8th Generation Celeron and Core processors with optional onboard RAID configurations. This includes the likes of the Celeron 4305UE and the Core i7-8665UE. However, the latter can cost up to an additional $800 more. While the base configuration only has 8 GB of RAM, the WPC-905 can be configured to up to 32 GB. It also offers dual 2 TB SATA SSDs that can be configured in either RAID 0 or RAID 1.
RAID 1 is capable of mirroring one drive onto the second, while RAID 0 optimizes storage space by spreading out data to maintain the fast speed and capacity of the two disks. However, the latter doesn’t have a redundancy feature, so if one drive fails, the entire assembly collapses.
For added versatility, Stealth has also included a full-size mini-PCIe slot that supports PCIe, mSATA, and USB, and a TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) for hardware security. According to Stealth, the mini-PC can be powered between 9 V and 48 V DC, adding to its overall portability.
The WPC-905 can be used in a wide variety of settings such as transportation, health care, interactive kiosks, digital signs, and even marine environments. It can also be used for different applications, such as audio/video recording, IoT, embedded control, and a human/machine interface. The mini-PC is compatible with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, and Linux. Operators can also easily customize the system according to their demands.
The base variant starts at $3,195 and includes a Celeron 4305UE processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SATA SSD. However, machine does not yet come with a preinstalled OS. It comes with a two-year warranty, and an extended warranty is available for purchase at an additional $646.20.
