Rock Hill, South Carolina – 3D Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: TDSC) unveiled its plans to introduce a next-generation family of high-speed sintering systems – the sPro™ 140 and 230 SLS® Centers that are designed to provide best-in-class part quality and accuracy for the most demanding functional prototyping and end-use applications. The company expects to begin taking orders for its new family of sPro™ Centers starting in the fourth quarter of this year for delivery to commence during the first quarter of 2009.
The sPro™ 140 and 230 SLS® Centers are designed to deliver tough, durable parts up to 30 inches long with excellent feature detail and smooth surfaces, built from a comprehensive portfolio of integrated DuraForm® Materials. This new generation of SLS® Centers is designed to provide large-part manufacturing capability ideal for aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, motorsports and other applications for which rugged plastic parts are required.
This new family of sPro™ SLS® Centers is designed to be configured and delivered with a variety of performance and speed enhancement packages, including the new ProScan™ GX digital imaging system, TruTemp™ thermal system and CleanSweep™ control technology. When equipped with these performance packages, sPro™ Centers should build parts at as much as twice the speed of current sintering systems, while dramatically reducing part-to-part and build-to-build variability.
McAlea plans to unveil the sPro™ 140 and 230 Systems at 2 p.m. tomorrow in a presentation titled “Go Big, Go Strong, Go Pro! Direct Manufacturing with the Latest Sintering Solutions” at the 3D Systems World Conference in Charlotte, NC.
