3D printing materials can be key to the success, or not, of 3D printers. Thus, relationships are an important part of the continued growth of the 3D printing / additive manufacturing industry.

Recently, EnvisionTEC and Royal DSM announced that the two companies are teaming up to develop the next level of high performance materials designed for heat resistance, durability, high detail resolution and dimensional stability. The material will be based on the Somos brand and will work with EnvisionTEC’s 3SP series’ Scan, Spin and Selectively Photocure technology that delivers large, high detail 3D printed models with precision and excellent quality surface finish.

The goal of this collaboration is to accelerate the production of large industrial parts. The materials will initially be targeted for EnvisionTEC’s Xtreme® 3SP machine. This large frame machine can produce parts two to three times faster than some other large printers.
