Here’s a new approach for using CAD data for ancillary purposes. The Core, new from Anark, in Boulder, CO, allows you to transform CAD geometries into use-appropriate forms for such applications as training manuals, service guides, and sales materials.
Anark has been working primarily with large defense contractors, like Boeing. A completed design for a company like this may represent huge sums invested in CAD models. Now, the Core is available to take that CAD data and repurpose it throughout the enterprise supply chain and support organizations.
The Core’s CAD transformation capabilities let you produce both high-precision (B-reps) and lightweight (mesh) product geometry for use in a variety of upstream and downstream applications including:
• OEM-Supplier Data Exchange
• Product Aftermarket Support
• Technical Publications & Interactive Catalogs
• Product Visualization & Training
• Sales & Marketing Communication
“Repurposing our CAD geometry for use in real-time 3D training applications is very expensive and time-consuming, and the risk of exposing our IP (Intellectual Property) when sharing product design data is high,” said John Reasoner, Principle Multimedia Engineer for Simulation and Training Solutions at Rockwell Collins. “The Core Platform solves both problems, enabling us to quickly transform our CAD data into the useful lightweight form we need, and making the removal of sensitive product design elements easy and straightforward.”
The Core Platform consists of two main components that can be configured to match organizational needs:
The Core Workstation is an easy-to-use authoring tool to produce transformed, use-appropriate CAD geometry for supply chain and support applications throughout the enterprise. Serving as the foundation, it gives you the ability to import CAD data, identify parts, instances, assemblies, and geometry features, and then modify or remove them as necessary. It supports common proprietary and open-standard CAD geometry formats, as well as lightweight geometry formats for downstream visual and 3D publishing applications.
The Core Server is a scalable server system for high volume, repeated applications. It helps manufacturers automate the transformation and delivery of CAD geometry throughout the
enterprise, supply chain and support organizations—even under constant product geometry revision. It is designed to serve the needs of large manufacturing enterprises by providing a modern, service-oriented architecture that allows straightforward integration with PDM, ERP, and other enterprise software systems.
The Core platform supports many CAD data and exchange formats, including step, IGES, Catia, Pro-E, Unigraphics, Collada, and VDA.
