Simulink Design Optimization from MathWorks is a modeling and control product that helps address model parameters such as mass or resistance. A suite of the company’s tools helps you create plant models, calibrate models with test data, and use them to design, simulate, and optimize control systems. The streamlined process is said to help improve system performance, reduce system costs, and meet other objectives by automatically tuning design parameters directly in Simulink models.

Use the software to automatically calibrate parameters of a mode with test data and to optimize controller gains. The upper left and right images show measured versus simulated data before and after the calibration, respectively. The lower image shows the initial and optimized controller response.

Using the software, you can update algorithms for automatic controller parameter adjustment to meet system performance requirements. The company says the new product helps simplify complex modeling environments and eliminate time-consuming trial and error methods.
