Digital training program offers learning solutions for Xcelerator portfolio.
There is often a steep learning curve to using new technology, which is why Siemens has introduced its Xcelerator Academy offering with both virtual and physical campus instruction for its digital transformation software.
The academy is designed for Siemens customers who want a guided learning program for Siemens’ software portfolio, services, and application development for electronic and mechanical design, system simulation, manufacturing and operations. It also covers Internet of Things (IoT) analytics.
“Digitalization is changing everything, as business processes need to rapidly evolve and adjust to business needs,” said Beat Neuhaus, VP of Global Learning Services at Siemens Digital Industries Software. A business’s success when using digitalization relies heavily on user adoption of these new technologies, as users need to stay up to date with new processes and systems.”
Software isn’t effective if people can’t use it. For this reason, Siemens crafted the Xcelerator Academy for easy to consume, customizable learning journeys. Additionally, the academy provides learners with opportunities to demonstrate their skills and get certified in certain areas.
For example, a Simcenter training program provides users, developers and implementors with a learning pathway to gain skills and create value in adopting digital twins in mechanical, automation, process and electrical areas of study. Training is a combination of on-demand and scheduled events that can either be led by a virtual instructor or occur in an in-person learning environment. Practice time is provided in virtual labs, and courses are wrapped up with certification exams. Certification levels are available in associate, professional and expert levels. There is also a support center with product documentation, articles and troubleshooting tips.
An online portal offers a combination of on-demand and instructor-led courses that are available in multiple languages. Learning credits can be obtained and redeemed for in-person classes at Siemens facilities. On-demand training entails cloud-based virtual machines that allow users to put their knowledge into practice in simulated software environments. Training modules include video content, virtual lab machines for practice and knowledge assessment to track progress.
Online membership areas correspond to the needs of various academy users. For instance, the Perform Memberships provide 24/7 access to learning materials, including new software as it is released. Video lessons, performance support and transcripts help guide learners through the process. Alternatively, Academic Memberships help educators prepare for their roles at the academy, while other memberships are related to specific software.
Learners can adjust their curriculum to focus only on what they need to know for their role, at a level appropriate to their current skills. The overarching goals are to increase user adoption of products, provide uninterrupted learning access at lower costs and tailor programs to companies’ specific needs.
