Introduces designer-focused, CAD-integrated thermal and fluid simulation based on Simcenter technology.

Siemens Digital Industries Software has released updates to its NX and NX X software, part of the Designcenter suite, including support for mixed reality design and collaboration, enhanced design-for-manufacturing features, integrated fluid flow simulation, and a new AI-assisted design tool.
Design Copilot NX
The latest NX update introduces Design Copilot, an AI-based natural language interface that helps users navigate learning resources more easily. It supports both new and experienced users by allowing them to search for technical information, best practices, and documentation using natural language input.

Immersive engineering
At CES 2024, Siemens announced plans to introduce immersive engineering features in collaboration with Sony and its mixed reality headset. These capabilities have since been implemented in recent NX product updates.
In addition to NX Immersive Designer—which allows users to create, view, and edit 3D CAD designs in virtual or augmented reality—the latest updates introduce NX Immersive Collaborator. This new tool supports collaboration in a shared virtual reality space with colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders. Collaborative sessions can be launched directly from the NX interface, minimizing the setup usually required for VR collaboration. The tool includes design review features such as measurement, assessment, and annotation for individual parts or complete assemblies.

Design for Manufacturing and extending MBD with characteristics
The latest NX update includes NX Inspector, a new feature that adds model-based characteristics to the digital twin to support the use of Model-Based Design (MBD) in downstream quality and manufacturing processes. Built on the Digital Metrology Standards Consortium’s Model-Based Characteristics standard, it allows designers and engineers to define manufacturing PMI that can be reused to support the creation of inspection and metrology processes. The tool also integrates with Teamcenter and Teamcenter Quality to incorporate real-time management data.

The new Design for Manufacture (DFM) Advisor automates early manufacturability assessments by analyzing part geometry and identifying potential challenges across multiple manufacturing processes (such as drilling, milling, assembly and molding) and providing actionable feedback directly in the interface. Visual reports can be generated and managed in Teamcenter to share with colleagues and partners, while using the insights to drive additional workflows.
The NX Mold Wizard now includes standard parts that update in real time with configuration changes, along with improved cooling channel simulation tools to help refine cooling system designs for part quality and cycle time efficiency.

Adding designer focused simulation based on industry proven technology
With the latest updates, Siemens is also introducing NX CFD Designer software, a new CAD integrated design simulation tool, powered by technology from Siemens’ Simcenter FLOEFD software. CFD Designer enables designers to access fluid flow and thermal capabilities directly within the NX CAD workspace to support simulation-driven decision making. Designed to be easy to use for those without CFD experience, it uses robust automation to tackle complex tasks like fluid volume detection and meshing on the designers’ behalf. It enables designers to quickly evaluate a range of operating scenarios, what-if studies and geometry variations and compare the results. Alongside the new CFD Designer, Siemens has also extended the capabilities of Performance Predictor to enable designers and engineers to run mechanical stress analyses across entire assemblies.
