Collaboration seems to be the trend lately in the additive manufacturing industry. Many companies are developing relationships that ultimately streamline the 3D printing process for users. The latest two companies to work together are Creaform, a leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, and Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS. Creaform has upgraded its scan-to-CAD software module, VXmodel to enable direct transfer to Solidworks. VXmodel is part of VXelements.
VXmodel features all the tools needed to prepare a scan-based STL file for 3D printing, such as mesh editing, alignment, geometrical entities and cross-sections and NURBS surfaces.
VXmodel also supports Go!SCAN 3D color acquisition and enables users to reapply the texture from a scan acquisition to the clean mesh for original quality rendering.
