German RepRap’s jumbo 3D printer X1000 V2 is nearly the same as the X1000 but with a few enhancements, including a heating bed and several safety features. This printer has a build envelope of 1000 x 800 x 600 mm (39.4 x 32 x 23.6 in.) and meets several industrial requirements. The closed build envelope, for example, prevents any disturbance from air currents during printing. The door is automatically locked when the printer is in operation, which increases safety by preventing access during printing. An integrated automatic two-fold CO₂ fire extinguishing system is available as an option to meet any fire safety requirements. The integrated fire extinguishing system increases flexibility in terms of the installation location, such as when the necessary fire extinguishing equipment is not present or in order to eliminate the need for sprinkler systems.

The X1000 V2 3D printer also offers material management with a two-point sensor system that measures the filament at two points and prevents print errors caused by material running out. A pause function makes it possible to replace the filament roll at any time without impairing the print result.

The Direct Drive DD3 extruder with full metal hot end allows a variable contact pressure. A dual extruder as well as a heating bed are now also optionally available with version 2. The X1000 can process PLA, Performance PLA, Laywood as well as PVA support material.

The hot end is suitable for nozzles with 0.4 to 1 millimeter openings. The larger nozzles make it possible to print large draft models within a reasonable time. The X1000 can print fine detailed objects with layer thicknesses of up to 0.1 millimeters, although with a large part this would take longer.

The German RepRap X1000 V2 can be integrated in a network through Ethernet or Wifi and comes with the Simplify3D print software, which includes features such as a print preview function and the manual positioning of support material. The X1000, as all German RepRap 3D printers, works with non-proprietary filament and is built as an open architecture with easily accessible components.

The 3D printer is now available from German RepRap and its sales partners, i.e. 3Dchimera in Miami, FL for the US market. However, there is a delivery time of three months. Prices are provided on request. The company and its Value Added Resellers offer onsite service for maintenance and installation.
