Taiwan-based Twinhead International Corporation announced that its 11.6-inch fully rugged Durabook R11 tablet has been updated with the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors. The rugged tablet is currently available starting at $1,849, according to a Twinhead press release.

The Durabook R11 now features 12th Gen Intel Core i7 and i5 processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. Twinhead says that these upgrades have made the rugged tablet up to 300 percent faster than its previous models, which are equipped with 8th Gen Intel Core chips.

“Durabook designs devices to meet the demanding needs of field service workers who rely on rugged technology to streamline workflows and improve productivity in even the harshest environments,” said Twinhead CEO Fred Kao in the release.

Rugged tablets are gaining prominence for engineers in the field, and offer a number of features to accommodate a range of environmental conditions. The Durabook R11 comes with MIL-STD-810H certification and an IP66 rating to withstand dusty, wet, hot and cold conditions. Additionally, the R11 is built to withstand shocks, vibrations and drops of up to four feet. The tablet has also undergone testing for MIL-STD-461F and meets ANSI/ISA 12.12.01 standards for use in potentially hazardous locations where flammability or electromagnetic interference could be an issue.

As mobile workers often depend on devices that can last many hours between a charge, the R11 features a battery life of up to 14 hours. The tablet features an 11.6-inch 1920 x 1080 multi-touch display with up to 1,000 nits of brightness for viewing even in direct sunlight. In addition, the Durabook R11 offers four touch modes: glove, stylus, water and finger.
