Roland introduces VersaOBJECT MO-180 benchtop UV flatbed printer

With an 8-inch clearance and an 18” x 12” print area, the MO-180 supports tall fixtures for versatile printing.

Roland DG Corp. has announced the addition of the new MO-180 benchtop UV flatbed printer to its VersaOBJECT Series. The MO-180 incorporates technologies and features that optimize image quality, productivity, and ease of use when direct-printing on a wide range of materials, including paper, glass, and three-dimensional objects up to eight inches thick.

The MO-180 is designed for compact spaces such as offices, schools, and storage areas while maintaining strong performance. It features two newly developed printheads in a staggered layout, a UV-LED lamp, and dot control technology, achieving a maximum print speed of 20.48 square feet per hour (1.90m²/hr.) in standard mode. Productivity for simultaneous white printing is doubled compared to previous models. Additionally, the MO-180’s technology and EUV-5 UV inks enable faster ink curing for precise text, detailed designs, and smooth gradations.

EUV5 inks for the MO-180 include orange, red, CMYK, white, and gloss. Using orange and red as process colors expands the color gamut by approximately 20% compared to CMYK printing, improving color accuracy. Gloss inks enable gloss or matte finishes, textured effects, and embossed designs. EUV5 inks are compatible with various soft and rigid substrates, including plastic, paper, leather, wood, glass, and metal. For better adhesion on challenging surfaces like glass and metal, a primer ink option is available. Roland DG also offers V-BOND inks (CMYK, white, and gloss), which provide enhanced scratch resistance and meet CPSIA/Toy Safety standards.

The MO-180 features an 8-inch clearance and an 18” x 12” (458 mm x 305 mm) print area, allowing it to accommodate various object shapes and taller fixtures. An optional rotary axis unit enables direct printing on cylindrical objects, such as bottles and flasks, with diameters ranging from 0.39 inches (10 mm) to 4.76 inches (121 mm).

The MO-180 is designed for user-friendly operation, featuring a 7-inch full-color touchscreen panel for quick access to print settings, maintenance, and other functions. It also includes an automatic cleaning function to help maintain printhead performance and consistent print quality.

MO-180 users can take advantage of cloud-based services like the newly enhanced Roland DG Connect, which provides print professionals with the tools they need to create, optimize, and grow – all in one easily accessible, simple-to-use platform. Roland DG Connect provides users with tools and features for device management, including a Device Dashboard for monitoring Roland DG equipment, remote tracking capabilities, access to business data, an e-commerce marketplace for print production products, media inventory tracking, and real-time chat support.
