About the Speakers:


Dr. Ricardo de Alba Alvarez is a technical manager specializing in vibro-acoustics at ESI North America. Previously, he worked as a CAE and NVH engineer at GM.

Alvarez has over 15 years of engineering experience. He completed his PhD and Masters in vibration studies at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) from the University of Southampton.


David Copley is a senior engineering specialist specializing in global sound solutions at Caterpillar, Inc. After 22 years at Caterpillar, Copley’s engineering and simulation expertise has touched almost all of their products.

Copley has a BS in physics and MS in acoustical physics from Brigham Young University. He is also a certified member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), where he served on the Board of Directors. Finally, Copley is an active member in the Society of Automotive Engineers’ Acoustical Materials Committee.
