About the Speakers:
Craig Brown, PLM Advisor & Vertex Consultant, has 40 years of experience in systems engineering, both in the automotive and aerospace industries. He has managed engineering and IT teams developing tools to improve product engineering. These teams have received patents, engineering awards, and records of inventions. Craig received GM’s Boss Kettering Award in 2003, using OnStar to monitor and report Vehicle Diagnostics. The acquisition of knowledge applied across product portfolios is key to the next wave of Product Lifecycle Management. Craig was appointed the GM PLM Leader in September 2012. He became PLM World’s Community Director in 2015. He retired from GM in early 2019 and looks forward to helping others apply their knowledge, experiences, and wares into the digital enterprises of the future.
Don Haupt, PLM Advisor & Vertex Consultant, worked with Caterpillar Inc. from 1979-2017 in a variety of roles, including Lead Business Process Strategist and Technical Steward for PLM and engineering systems. Don worked in multiple product development disciplines and product lines. He has significant experience in product design, simulation and validation, engineering processes, and PLM strategy and process, and environment and systems definition. Don’s experience as the strategic technical director for PLM World also contributes to his expertise with PLM. Today, Don is enjoying retirement and serving as a PLM consultant, providing customized technical guidance and counsel for engineering management and engineering design processes. He leverages his deep expertise in Product Lifecycle Management, Model Based Engineering, Advanced Product Quality Planning and many other product design and development processes.
Jim Zwica, Solution Architect at Vertex Software, serves as a strategic product expert and voice of the customer for Vertex Software. He has extensive experience in product lifecycle management (PLM) and collaboration throughout the supply chain, giving him unique insight into customer needs. Jim’s experience with PLM began in the late ‘90s, and developed into a strong strategic and consultative approach. Throughout his roles with EAI, Siemens, and Caterpillar, Jim consulted with manufacturers on how to best leverage PLM, communicated technology recommendations from the customer back to executive leadership teams, and led development teams to create technology for virtual design reviews.
