The Utilization of Top-down DLP Printing for Production Parts

This webinar will discuss 3D printing, design & engineering and how the emergence of 3D printing has driven innovation and technology adoption for companies like Adaptive3D, Aerosport Additive and for several other industries.

During this webinar segment, Pratik Shah, Senior Product Manager – Photopolymers for Adaptive3D and the ETEC group and Geoff Combs, CEO and Founder of Aerosport Additive will discuss 3D printing, design & engineering and how the emergence of 3D printing has driven innovation and technology adoption for companies like Adaptive3D, Aerosport Additive and for several other industries.

Geoff will outline the 3D market and why he considered 3D printers, specifically discussing how SLA began the photopolymer-base printing and by what means DLP has leaped over more matured 3D technologies.

  • Evolution of materials – using 3D printing and Adaptive3D’s ToughRubber family resin
  • Specific applications – the importance of 3D printing serving multiple industries including automotive, medical, electronic, military, aviation, consumer and more
  • Xtreme 8K – how and why mass production is possible

Pratik will speak about the significance of the large build volume and automation in 3D printing that has spurred improvements in manufacturing. He will address the changes and innovations related to 3D printing by creating efficiency, and will detail how Adaptive3D, ETEC’s, and partner materials fit into the future for customers across several industries.

Key topics:

  • Evolution of materials – over the last 15 years, 3D printing has turned mainstream manufacturing to photopolymers
  • Automation – Adaptive3D and ETEC’s complete turnkey printing and process parameters, scalability, quality, etc.
  • State of materials and product demands – customers and industries have higher demands like never before, so manufacturers must produce at higher speeds, have faster throughput and larger build volumes to meet customer’s needs
  • Future of Additive Manufacturing & 3D printing – manufacturers across all industries will have to work together to shape the industry and economy

About the Speakers:

Geoff Combs – President & Founder – Aerosport Additive

Geoff’s design career began in 1994 when he left his insurance industry career and ventured into model making. After two years in the business, he noticed that there was a need for a full-service model shop in the Columbus, Ohio area. Aerosport Modeling & Design was founded in September 1996. Geoff has served as Principal and President for the past 25 years.

Always an innovator, Geoff began studying the multi-jet fusion 3D printing technology developed, by Hewlett Packard and in 2017 purchased one of their 4200 models. Within a year, Geoff added more 3D printers and post processing equipment. In 2020, Geoff expanded their facility to include an additional area specifically designed for Aerosport’s growing Additive Manufacturing business, which includes HP MJF equipment and new DLP printers running Adaptive3D’s Elastic ToughRubber resins. He also changed the company name from Aerosport Modeling and Design to Aerosport Additive to reflect the company’s growth, evolution, and commitment to clients and to the Additive Manufacturing industry.
