SANTA ANA, CA – Purple Platypus has launched the BFB 3000 Panther, the first fully-assembled, color 3-dimensional printer available in the United States for under $4,000. The BFB 3000 Panther rapid prototyping printer will be unveiled at the RAPID 2010 Conference and Exposition at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim May 18-20 in booth 800.
Manufactured by Bits from Bytes Ltd. of North Somerset, United Kingdom, the BFB 3000 Panther enables businesses, industrial designers, architects, manufacturing firms, and hobbyists to purchase affordable rapid prototyping equipment for the first time. The BFB 3000 Panther prints quick and affordable models and parts from computer aided design (CAD) files. The printer is standalone, uses an SD card, and requires no computer connection.
“The BFB 3000 Panther is the first and only commercially-available 3D printer of its kind,” stated David Cox, president of Purple Platypus. “Budget-conscious businesses and consumers will finally be able to design and manufacture new products in-house without breaking their budget.”
“We wanted to develop a 3D printing solution that is both affordable to buy and affordable to run, so businesses can take advantage of this previously expensive technology,” stated Bits from Bytes Sales Director Andy MacLaren. “With the BFB 3000 Panther, businesses can get their products into consumers’ hands quickly and affordably.”
Purple Platypus will hold two open house events for prospective customers and the media at its facility. The open house events will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27 at 151 E. Columbine Avenue in Santa Ana, Calif.
