Prodways launches PA6-12T material for laser sintering 3D printing

Prodways launched PA6-12T plastic material for 3D printing equipment using selective laser sintering. This new glass filled material is a result of its exclusive partnership with A. Schulman.

In November 2016, Prodways announced the strategic partnership with A. Schulman, a leading international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and composite materials used in many industries.

PA6-12T is a plastic material used with conventional plastic processing techniques to produce parts that require rigidity, impact resistance and a capacity to withstand high temperatures. The material is characterized by its low sensitivity to moisture absorption, allowing it to maintain its mechanical properties in humid conditions.

Using the new PA612-GB 3800 powder, it is now possible to 3D print plastic parts that can deliver high performance mechanical properties, even with complex geometrical structures such as fuel circuits or pump bodies.

PA612-GB 3800 can replace machined metal by printing lighter and more effective plastic parts with an optimized design – such as casings, the top parts of motors or ballast systems.

This launch is the first major milestone in Prodways’ and A. Schulman’s partnership for the development of innovative plastic parts which are compatible with all laser sintering systems on the market. It also opens up the path to the development of other new high-performance materials for industrial applications.
